"We never paint what we see or what we think we see: we paint a thousand vibrations, the blow received."
Nicolas De Staël
Originally from Finistère, Anisa spent her early years in Africa, in Abidjan, where she was influenced by its art and light. Back in Brittany, she was inspired by the seascapes and islands at the end of the world.
After a stay in Svalbard, an Arctic archipelago, she was driven by the desire to create large-scale canvases that would pay homage to the silence and immensity of Norway's grandiose landscapes.
She will then pay homage to nature in each of the places where she has lived: Réunion, Martinique, Tunis, Finistère, Var and finally Paris.
Naturally inclined towards the sensitive and introspective, Anisa Manière has trained herself since adolescence to try and reproduce master paintings, particularly those of the Impressionists: Monet, Renoir, Degas, Pissaro... She tries to retain the naïveté and generosity of her early technique, like a fidelity to childhood, to the wonder of a world that deserves to be painted.
Later, she would discover the profound and striking worlds of Zao Wou Ki, Joan Mitchell and Nicolas De Staël, and remain fascinated by the vibrant communication between canvas and viewer.
