I tend to simplify my characters to the point of caricature. I like it when they move freely in the middle of abstract backgrounds.

Christine creció en París entre las paletas y pinceles de su padre, pintor y escultor. Desde muy pequeña le gustaba pasear por su estudio y se apasionó por el arte. A los 8 años empezó a pintar bodegones al óleo. Tras cursar el bachillerato, comenzó a formarse en Bellas Artes y luego trabajó como diseñadora gráfica durante diez años, en los que llegó a ser directora de arte para agencias de publicidad. En 1986 se produce un punto de inflexión en su vida: decide dedicarse por completo a su familia y a su pasión por la pintura. Abandona el bullicio de París y su universo profesional para instalarse en Provenza, donde se forma en técnicas artísticas y asiste a clases nocturnas en la Escuela de Bellas Artes. Desde 2010, participa y dirige talleres con modelos vivos en la Académie Libre (Puyricard). Esta asociación cercana a Aix en Provence, que enseña y promueve las artes visuales, fue fundada por su marido Nicolas Doucedame, también artista.

Scenes of daily life have always fascinated Christine. She paints moments of life; happy little scenes that take place in public places. In her works one finds bars, beaches and swimming pools peopled with friendly and perky characters. She loves human contact and paints the conversations and meetings that she observes. The artist first draws in her sketchbook, then transposes her sketches onto the canvas. This technique allows her to keep only the essentials. Christine creates the background by using warm colours in an abstract style, which she uses to make the colours sing, and then simplifies the characters into caricature and let them evolve freely amidst a mysterious scenery.
