David ya pintaba cuando dejó su casa familiar en Orange (Vaucluse) para hacer un aprendizaje como cocinero. Delante del lienzo, como detrás de los fogones, se deleitaba con la mezcla de colores, sabores y las innumerables oportunidades para su imaginación.
Aunque eligió otras experiencias profesionales, la pintura seguía formando parte de su vida cotidiana. Instalado en París, siguió durante dos años las enseñanzas de Martenot y se formó en los fundamentos de la disciplina, el arte del relieve y los trazos. Estudioso aplicado, pintó bodegones, retratos, desnudos y perfeccionó sus conocimientos bajo la dirección de la artista belga Nadine Forster (siglos XX-XXI). De vuelta a la vida rural, descubre los placeres de la jardinería y dedica sus obras a la exuberancia de la naturaleza.
At first influenced by the abstract expressionism of American artist Jackson Pollock, David was able to hone his style, which is characterized by the effects of overlays ("dripping") and a profusion of colours and materials.
In 2010, the artist returned to live in sunny Provence, in Saint-Maximin-laSainte-Baume, which opened a new chapter in his artistic career. Inspired by the aesthetics of torn advertising posters in the Paris metro, David turned to Pop Art. Since then his creations are patchworks of bright colours. He uses old advertisements from the early twentieth century, which he glues and paints with glycerine paint and markers. These "vintage" icons populate his more and more vivacious and undisciplined works, multiplying his nods to Art Nouveau, contemporary graffiti and floral compositions.
