Watercolours are associated with surprises, created by mixing water with pigments, they demand spontaneity and rapidity of execution.
For more than 30 years, Elisabeth Hoffmann has created nearly 3,000 works.
Born into a family of artists, her passion for art began in her teens. She first tried her hand at charcoal, then red chalk, before discovering watercolour at the age of 18. She bought her first box of watercolours, and it was a revelation for the artist. Today, this medium continues to enable her to blossom as an artist: "I love the transparency that this tool gives me, and I've always remained faithful to it. It allows me to perfectly retranscribe light, reflections, atmospheres...".
A native of Gironde, France, Elisabeth Hoffmann creates luminous watercolors that combine softness and precision, blur and movement, as well as tranquility and peace. The artist also loves watercolor for its transparency and contrasts. Through large compositions, the watercolorist also intends to challenge the small format often associated with watercolor practice. Under Elisabeth's brushes, painting frees itself from this straitjacket and becomes a veritable "poem to be seen". From her studio in Sadirac, she paints the Bordeaux region and the beautiful vineyards that surround it... Her inspirations are manifold: the vineyards, the Arcachon Basin, Bordeaux, St Emilion, Troyes, Nice, Marseille or Vienne... bring to life vivid or blended colors thanks to the delicate touch of watercolor...
