Erin Ashley

Originally from Naples, Florida, Erin was always a creative child but never envisioned herself as a painter. Her discovery of art came during a family activity where she tried her hand at painting a flower for her children. The American painter creates her works without any preconceived ideas and therefore never knows what her work will look like once completed. She simply envisions each painting as a symbol of a journey to a pleasant destination. Erin is deeply inspired by the beauty that emanates from any object that has been altered by time: peeling paint, rusting old metal tools, or the age of buildings that have been damaged by the years. Using her tubes of paint, she seeks to retranscribe the splendor that moves her, offering the viewer her own personal interpretation, continually bathed in light.her works are made on canvas or wood boards, and composed of many colors and textures. Playing with layers, Erin is constantly trying to reveal the old through the new. Thus, the artist uses fragments of typographed paper that she inserts into her canvases, then covers more or less partially with acrylic paint mixed with various mediums. She then intervenes on her support by intertwining and juxtaposing the pictorial materials with the documents. Resolutely abstract, her works reflect the modernity of our world and its multiple transformations.
