Laurence Godon Pirof

Born in the Paris region, Laurence has loved drawing since her early childhood. At the age of 16, during a visit to the Beaubourg Center, she fell in admiration of the painter Francis Picabia (20th century). The artist's works inspired her and triggered an artistic fervor in her. Her decision was made: she would become a painter. 24 years old, she entered the Beaux-arts de Paris. She continued her studies in different European countries and finished in Mexico City. Enriched by her travels, her apprenticeships and her background, Laurence developed her own artistic technique, starting with monotype (a single print made in reverse) which she combined with various techniques that were incompatible. She combines monotype and watercolor, oil paint and ink ... the alchemy that takes place amazes her. She loves mixtures and cannot be satisfied with a single material. Laurence is spontaneous, passionate and in perpetual search of the unusual.she finally chooses to work the monotype on paper that she maroons on canvas, then finishes her work as a painter with ink or acrylic.Laurence is inspired by her life, everyday scenes, emotions and individuals. "The human, the essence of life, the nude are imposed on her. Naturally, she paints men and women and thus develops a clear artistic work. She adds notes of color to these bodies lying or curled up on themselves. Concerned about the transmission of knowledge, she opened in 2007 her workshop "Purple Papyrus", in the Eastern Pyrenees. She gives courses on modeling techniques, painting on glass and earthenware or ink.
