Olivier de Géa creates works in two stages: an initial digital version to establish the idea, followed by a physical version on canvas. His signature is the use of rust, obtained by oxidizing iron, which he applies to his black-and-white drawings. This process involves considerable risk-taking, as the rust can alter the initial work. He uses two techniques: oxidation on a support using steel powder for a fast, flexible finish, or direct rusting on a steel plate, which takes longer but has profound effects. His universe, imbued with gentleness, sensuality and strength, draws on his observation of living things and his freedom of inspiration, nourished as much by painting as by comics, cinema or digital art.
