Description artwork
Three-dimensional canvas sculpture inspired by kinetic art. I wanted to capture the indescribable: that fragile and powerful moment when an emotion arises, seeks its form, intertwines with another, rises, hesitates, then bursts forth as if it were obvious. It is the inner labyrinth of every human being. Yours. Mine. Everyone's.
These hundreds of textures, sculpted entirely by hand in three dimensions, each folded, turned, and positioned by hand, form an organic labyrinth of astonishing complexity. I spent hours, days, composing every inch of this surface. Each ribbon-like texture is an emotion. The ones we all feel every day.
Some are broad and assertive, like joy, love, and certainty. Others are thin and elusive, like doubt, nostalgia, and fragile hope. Together, they create a complete emotional ecosystem, a world unto itself, a universe that you can explore endlessly without ever coming full circle.
The labyrinth has always fascinated humanity because it symbolizes the inner journey, the quest for self, the complexity of human existence, and the beauty of that complexity. By losing yourself in the gaze of this work, you find yourself. This is the magnificent paradox of my work The Labyrinth of Emotions: the more you lose yourself in it, the more you find yourself.
