Belladone | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

  • Belladone | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography
The imaginary is the rainbow, happiness is the imaginary, the imaginary exists. (Niki de Saint Phalle)
Chrystelle CERISIER, under the name of Belladone, is, as she likes to describe herself, "just a colored girl". After studies mixing Plastic Arts, Art History, Applied Arts, crafts and artistic mediation, the young woman naturally turned to art and specifically to painting, for which she has a strong interest. Art thus became for her a way to express herself and to externalize, something she had difficulty doing otherwise. It is by studying numerous works of art that she became fascinated by this way of expressing herself in a way other than by speaking, while leaving the public many possible interpretations.
Belladone is distinguished by her two-dimensional, split vision. Inspired by Niki de Saint Phalle's double point of view works, she works with different techniques such as aerosol, acrylics, markers, inks... Her works all start from the same point: a story that Belladone wants to tell. She then defines the central and secondary illustrations, but also the atmosphere and the colors of the story. Her creations thus display a double reading: a main subject, inspired by pop culture, and secondary elements and details, even hidden. Belladone wishes to externalize and tell certain stories, while leaving multiple possible interpretations for the viewer.
