Rino Valido | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Rino Valido’s painting summarises a pure manifestation of landscape forms, which over time dramatically change the figurative representation of an impressionist evocation of coloured marks that make up a complex, aesthetic and sensitive structure.\n A trained chromatographist and graphic designer, inspired by the landscapes of his native Italy, Switzerland and notably the French Camargue that he discovered in 1978, the artist produces paintings with singular techniques, using ink drawing and photographic printing, and thriving on the great trans-avant-garde movements of the time, the taste for the painted canvas and the return to neo-expressionism.\n Discovering, therefore, that “painting” can exist and find new forms away from canvas, material and a paintbrush, Rino Valido decided to revive the volume, the written form and reproductive techniques. The industrial world, technology and mechanics therefore interfere with the fields of creation, offering multiple supports and materialising a serial dimension, whose experimentation the artist still appreciates. Familiarising himself with scenography, the artist produced true installations made of wood, steel and slate, that still exist alongside large mural paintings on canvas.\n In the end, Rino Valido reconciled the techniques, supports and spaces. Lately, he has experimented with the insertion of extra-pictorial elements in his paintings, such as colourful fabrics. Through this process of “superimposing”, the artist produces a complete composition, mixing industrial pigments and acrylic colours, metal and plywood, in order to construct a growing and complex structure on the surface of the painting, an architecture of emotions.
