Abandoning the constraints of the subject, I put the gesture at the centre of everything.

Trained in drawing and painting techniques during her youth in the workshop of Hélène Chassin, Geneviève Perez is particularly fond of oil painting for its touch, its finesse and its chromatic richness.Initially developing a figurative approach and practicing various techniques, she explores different subjects among which African figures. Then, favoring a more personal approach, she tackles the theme of the urban landscape in a practice halfway between figuration and abstraction. Her "Visions" series approaches abstraction, definitively freeing herself from any ambition of representation.

In the pursuit of emotion, only the material, the color, the balance and the movement count. Fluidity, transparency and fade effect, sought by the artist, come to confuse the form and the bottom for a light, almost air rendering which characterizes her work. Geneviève Perez likes to explore all the chromatic ranges in daring combinations of colors and in all possible formats, from the smallest to the largest. With great sensitivity, she draws you into her poetic universe where each one slips in his own way.Influenced by the work of Pierre Soulages, Nicolas de Staël and Zao Wou-Ki, Geneviève Perez multiplies, concentrates and focuses the use of light in the center of the painting like an eye, a window on the world. Her new series of seascapes incites to travel and reverie.
