A self-taught artist originally from Ukraine, Berez now lives and works in Poland. His paintings celebrate light, color, and the beauty of simple moments. Inspired by slow living, Mediterranean warmth, and the aesthetics of vintage leisure, he creates sun-drenched scenes reminiscent of cherished summer memories. Blending serenity, joie de vivre, and escapism, his works invite viewers to slow down and savor life’s precious moments.
Berez draws inspiration from the light and freedom of gesture found in Claude Monet and Joaquín Sorolla, the cinematic atmosphere of Edward Hopper, and the sun-soaked aesthetic of photographer Slim Aarons. Working primarily with acrylic paint, he uses expressive, dynamic brushstrokes to create rich visual textures without relying on thick layers of paint. Color and movement bring his leisurely scenes to life, infused with Mediterranean warmth. Blending Impressionist influences with a contemporary sensibility, Berez envisions each painting as a window onto an endless summer: coffee in the sun, a boat ride, or a peaceful moment suspended far from everyday life.
