Tribute to Egon Schiele

In this new collection entitled "Homage to Egon Schiele", Carré d'artistes, in collaboration with contemporary artists from around the world, is inspired by and honours the work of Egon Schiele.

The artist Egon Schiele

An Austrian painter born in 1890 in Tulln an der Donau and dying in 1918 in Vienna, Egon Schiele left his mark on his generation with his intimate, raw and innovative portraits. Despite his short career - he died of Spanish flu at the age of 28 - Schiele became one of the most recognised figures of Viennese modernism. Largely influenced by Gustav Klimt, he painted existence through distorted and disjointed bodies that convey the depth of human emotion and experience.

His subjects are varied: men, women, self-portraits, landscapes and still lifes. He produced more than 3,000 drawings and paintings and tried his hand at painting in oil, watercolour, pencil or gouache. Some of his works were considered provocative and intense because of their sexual nature, and some of them were confiscated, and the artist spent several weeks in prison. Today, Schiele is recognised for his dense and plural work. He represents a generation of ambitious and innovative artists, and inspires a wave of young contemporary painters and visual artists.

Carré d'artistes

Carré d'artistes is the first network of art galleries with more than 30 locations worldwide. Through our platform, we aim to popularize contemporary art by exhibiting the works of artists from around the world. Since 2001, we have been working with the most talented painters, sculptors and street artists of our generation. To date, we have accompanied more than 600 artists and visual artists and given them the opportunity to share their work and make a living from it.

The Egon Schiele Collection

In our new collection entitled "Homage to Egon Schiele", we highlight the work of contemporary painters and designers such as Zani, an artist from Macedonia who now lives in London, and the French artist Labarussias. These artists, carefully selected by the curators of our gallery, share with us their unique works, inspired by the work of Schiele. The themes dear to the artist's heart can be found in their paintings: the human body, deformation and existence.

Painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, discover our selection of original works in unique copy certified by the artist. We propose you creations in square formats from 13x13cm, framed according to your choice. To get one of these paintings, count a minimum of 95 €.
