Art is something that makes you breathe with a different kind of happiness. - Anni Albers
After 35 years as a piano soloist, accompanist, and teacher, Emily Ellsworth wasn't looking for another artistic outlet. Then she stepped into a hot shop. In her first glassblowing class, she immediately fell in love with the process. The heat, movement, and split-second decisions required by molten glass felt both exhilarating and familiar. Whether working at the piano or shaping molten glass, Emily is happiest when completely immersed in the creative process. Her greatest joy is creating work that sparks a smile, starts a conversation, or brings a little wonder into someone's day.
A native Arizonan, Emily draws inspiration from the desert she calls home. She is especially fascinated by cacti – their sculptural forms, quirky personalities, and remarkable ability to flourish in challenging conditions. These influences often find their way into her glass creations.
