Less is more - Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
Manfred Hellweger is a freelance sculptor from Tyrol, Austria. Deeply influenced by the nature of his childhood and the evolution of his Alpine environment, he creates works in wood, metal and stone from recycled materials. His art, both pure and symbolic, questions consumer society and the very essence of our existence. Each sculpture invites us to return to the essential, in an age saturated by speed and excess.
Manfred draws his inspiration from nature, particularly during his long immersions in the mountains, where his ideas and sketches are born. He works from simple elements - planks, nails, geometric shapes - which he assembles with precision in a masterful process of collage and welding. His sculptures, often figurative, rise then seem to dissolve, expressing perpetual movement and an almost immaterial lightness. This dynamic renders visible the fragility of existence and invites us to a conscious contemplation of the present moment. Nurtured by formal sobriety, his works convey a timeless aesthetic and a strong emotional charge.
