Live your dreams and not dream of living.
Luma is a self-taught painter who's been drawing since he was little. He learnt in his bedroom using pencils his mother gave him and carried on drawing for years. He began painting on canvas when he was 20. Painting gradually took over from drawing. It may just have been a hobby but LUMA began taking part in his first exhibitions. The artist from Saint-Etienne worked in the oil industry but wanted to make a career from art and do a job he loved.\n
LUMA looks up to Jonone, PichiAvo, Dan23, Basquiat, Fab Prenat, Notorious BIG, Kurt Cobain, NTM, Médine, Malcom X, Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela and is inspired by his passions: music, sport, history, art, street art and society. He actually always listens to music when he's creating his canvases. The artist paints a colourful backdrop then draws on a face. The artist wants to bring people and communities together through his work by showing that different skin types and faces are a source of power and wealth. Luma uses vivid colours to bring joy to audiences and brighten up an often dark world.\n
