Simon Marais lives and works in Angers, his hometown. A draftsman since childhood, he trained in comic book art at the Pivaut School in Nantes before devoting himself to oil painting. Admiring the creative process more than the result, he patiently developed a personal pictorial language, inspired by Impressionism. His work seeks to suspend time: landscapes and everyday scenes become sensitive moments where light reveals the emotion felt by the painter and conveyed to the viewer.

Simon Marais paints exclusively in oil on canvas. Inspired by Monet, Sisley, Caillebotte, Manet, and Picasso, he favors a suggestive approach close to Impressionism. Nature is his main source of inspiration: he observes the variations in light, the weather, and the time of day, letting emotion guide his choice of color and brushstrokes. Each painting seeks to capture a moment in time, faithful to reality but charged with feeling. His work sublimates nuances and contrasts to create sincere paintings, where looking becomes an act of attention: beauty already exists, you just have to take the time to perceive it.
