Nadine Bourgne | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

A native of Auvergne, Nadine attended a painting workshop in Niort for two years before installing her easels in La Rochelle. The artist, however, considered herself self-taught and claimed her freedom. Indeed, for a long time she combined painting with her teaching job in business management, and she would need to feed her passion for abstract expression for a decade before finally devoting herself to her art. She has participated in many international events and exhibitions since then, whose encounters with other artists, notably oriental arts, have influenced her work.\n An amazing combination of ordered and chaotic elements is at the heart of Nadine’s painting. With a palette always rich in variegated and shimmering shades, she shows the questioning observer a path to inner, unexplored landscapes. Constantly renewed, this horizon is not addressed to reason or memory, but moves the observer and stirs up his serenity, anchored in centuries of figuration. Nadine’s works are fierce experiments; many quests and challenges that reflect her doubts, but also mark her journey towards personal fulfilment.\n Sensitive to shapes, colours and contrasts, Nadine is constantly looking for some kind of balance. She seeks to convey this almost impalpable subtlety on canvas or paper. Her painting, tenderly aggressive, marries acrylic, inks, pastels and graphite. After a gestation time, listening to her emotions, her work is mostly intuitive. Head and hands are then in the service of her heart and spontaneity. The artist from La Rochelle admits that indeed she often paints urgently, in a hurry, touched by thoughtless and instinctive impulses. This speed gives Nadine’s painting its unique dual aspect, abundant yet very structured.
