Some artists and sculptures of recycled objects

The artist Subodh Gupta describes his still life sculptures as being in the tradition of Marcel Duchamp. He uses objects from ultra-consumerism to construct his art. His works of art are profoundly atypical and give rise to strangely shaped trees using unlikely materials.

The South American artist Vik Muniz is one of the leaders of the "art of waste". He has fun diverting incongruous objects such as rubbish, bits of magazines, cigarette butts, etc. with inventiveness. Vik Muniz creates ephemeral sculptures of gigantic size.


The artist couple Sue Webster and Tim Noble create 'shadow sculptures' with discarded objects and rubbish from all directions. They light up the final result to project poetic and imaginary shadow portraits on the wall.


The Guerra de la Paz artists' collective comes from Cuba. These artists use recycled materials as their essential resources. They work with unconventional and unusual materials such as used clothing. They transform them and propose sculptures made of ultra-coloured recycled materials. They are usually homage works or classical references and convey messages about the state of society today. The artistic approach of this Cuban collective questions consumer society and the way we use it.


Wim Delvoye is known worldwide for his aesthetic work with cut-up tyres. He creates subtle patterns inspired by vegetation and flora in the texture of the tyre itself. The rubber material eventually becomes similar to hammered metal or chiselled wood.
