Tribute to Vincent Van Gogh

Sunflowers and starlight

The "Van Gogh tribute collection" is the result of the cooperation of Carré d'artistes with several contemporary artists from different countries around the world. The collection highlights all the works, paintings that were inspired by the achievements of the famous Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh.

The artist Vincent Van Gogh

Dutch painter and draftsman, Vincent Van Gogh was born on March 30, 1853 in Groot-Zundert. His life was the scene of disappointment, which led him to commit suicide on July 29, 1890. Van Gogh's painting style was generally postimpressionism, pointillism and neo-impressionism.

Van Gogh's iconic works

His accomplishments consist of more than 2,000 works including about 900 paintings and 1,100 drawings.
Three of his works were mainly famous. In particular, the sunflowers from 1888 to 1889, the self-portrait with bandaged ear in 1889 and the starry night also in 1889. "The Sunflowers" is the name of two series of paintings.
The first series is a painting with sunflowers placed on a table. The second series is composed of 6 paintings with sunflowers in vases. The painting entitled "Self-portrait Van Gogh" or the "Self-portrait with bandaged ear" is an oil painting on canvas.
This Van Gogh painting was done in his studio in Arles. It is preceded by Vincent Van Gogh's attempt to injure Paul Gauguin, a French Post-Impressionist painter, and then the cutting of his ear by a razor blade. And the third symbolic achievement is "Starry Night". This painting Van Gogh is the representation of his view through the room he occupied in the asylum of the Monastery of St. Paul de Mausole.

Van Gogh Museum

This Dutch painter has his own museum, the Van Gogh Museum. The latter was founded in 1973 located in Amsterdam on the Museumplein.
