  • Dontu Grigore | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography
Dontu Grigore
I do not look, I find. (Pablo Picasso)
Grigore Dontu is an artist from Moldavia. From an early age, he had a passion for painting and drawing. In his teens, he joined an art school, then continued his training at university. He joined various international artists' associations and unions. He then spent a year at the Marseille School of Fine Arts in France. The artist takes part in numerous fairs and events. He also takes part in exhibitions in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland, as well as group exhibitions organized by the Union of Plastic Artists of Moldavia.
Grigore admired numerous Impressionist masters such as Claude Monet, Edouard Manet, Paul Cézanne, Alfred Sisley, Konstantin Korovin, Isaac Levitan, Mikhail Vroubel, Maurice Utrillo and Nicolae Grigorescu. Since his arrival in France, the Moldavian-born painter has been attracted by the atmosphere of cafés, bars and brasseries, Provencal markets, the foliage of plane trees and the hues of bark. These are the landscapes he depicts in his work, playing on the warm, sunny tones of Provence. The artist also likes to work outdoors to better capture the play of light and contrasts, and to get to know the nature he represents in his work.
