Iza | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Iza

  • Painter

It is not the instrument that makes the musician.
Precocious and passionate, Iza grew up in La Rochelle trying to reproduce the Mona Lisa or the Sunflowers of Van Gogh. She first studied languages in Poitiers and then worked in sales and communication. At this time, she already devotes all her free time to painting and very quickly exhibits her first works throughout France. In 2014, she became a professional and introduced her brushes and her smudged overalls as her new daily work tools. Since then, Iza leads artistic workshops and regularly participates in festivals in France.
Granddaughter of lighthouse keepers and native of Ouessant, Isabelle expresses in her art a return to her roots and her childhood. On canvas, she skillfully mixes the figurative and the abstract to illustrate coastal landscapes in all their truth. Fascinated by the painters of yesteryear, her love and mastery of colors comes from fauvism, impressionism but also from pop art. The artist feels the need to create many works quickly and plays with materials such as plaster and plaster. Bright and dense, acrylic paint that dries quickly suits her best, she likes to enhance it with trowels and painting knives. At work, she lets inspiration flow through her, seeking "her blue note": the perfect harmony between instinct, technique and energy. For Iza, experimentation is essential, in art as in life.
