Seeing and hearing is not looking and listening.
Originally from Dijon, Nicolas started photography while working in the restaurant business. After a few years, he became a professional and specialized in dance and portrait photography. Tired of digital photography, he started working with wood and jewelry and contributed to the creation of the art workshop "La Volière". It is finally with clay that he finds his way and really manages to express himself. Today, he is a talented artist and sculptor, shaping numerous human and animal faces, a nod to his first love for photography.
Sensitive and empathetic, Nicolas, or NI'KO, is a keen observer of life and nature. In his works, he retranscribes the richness of the emotions expressed by the body language, as well in the man as in the animal. He first shapes his creations from clay or plastiline, then molds them in silicone with a resin cover. Once dry, the mold is removed, cleaned and then used to cast the resin inside by layering. The sculptures are then painted or patinated with various acids and metallic powders. His inspirations include Philippe Faraut, Steve Winterburn and Jago artist. With his sculptures as fine as expressive, Nicolas captures the soul of his models and makes us travel in their life, their history or their environment.
