Familiar scenes or mundane objects, her detailed, pared-down creations resonate with emotion. Her artistic process is long and rigorous. Her designs are first sketched in pencil, then digitized to become vector art. Refined to pixel accuracy, the resulting rendering is then finely cut with great precision. Finally, all the elements are meticulously assembled and glued together using tweezers and a glue filled syringe. The image, usually monochromatic, comes to life with the shadows formed by superimposed layers. Combining technical skill and originality, Susan's refined, minimalist style reinterprets the art of bas-reliefs with talent and modernity.
