Isabelle Pelletane | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Isabelle Pelletane
  • France
Isabelle spent her childhood in the southwest of France before moving to Poitier at the age of 18. Already attracted by the arts and creativity, she first tried studying psychology before turning to a training in the Fine Arts. She decided to pursue her artistic career on her own as self-taught artist.\n As part of a personal journey she flew to Martinique. In this overseas region of France, also known as the island of flowers, she marvelled at the beauty of the colours and landscapes, and stayed to live there for a year. She refined her technique and returned to France at the age of 29, beginning her first solo exhibitions.\n Isabelle’s painting is born from the desire to understand the life of man in his natural environment. At first, she focuses on humans by creating imaginary worlds populated by beasts and whimsical little creatures.\n She uses mainly acrylic on canvas, paper, cardboard and wood, evolving a dynamic technique of rhythm and movement. The colours and materials are projected, turbulent, bubbling with life, like a reference to the natural world.\n In recent years, her painting has evolved and turned towards nature. Isabelle poses questions about a world at two levels, and casts a critical eye on the ravages of humans on nature.\n In this chaos, escape is essential. Isabelle delivers her impressions and emotions on canvas through light, colour and the tingling of life. She is in touch with her inner child and marvels at the budding flowers of the garden or the city lights...\n Moments of creation are experienced as intense privileged moments, where ""jumbles"" reveal themselves to her, as if the work were alive, a work that would make colours dance!
