Iwak | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Iwak
  • France
Iwak’s artistic work is a synthesis of the different activities that have fuelled her rich creative journey. On reaching adulthood, with diploma in hand, Iwak began working freelance in computer graphics in Greece. On her return to France in the early 2000s, this self-taught visual artist expanded her disciplinary field through training in decorative painting and many courses in mosaic. She became passionate about mosaic, and participated in numerous exhibitions in Paris before developing an enthusiasm for textile design and screen-printing. Settling in the South in 2012, she had the opportunity to attend drawing classes with the Peruvian artist Rosendo Li and participate in workshops with Raphael Larre, a teacher at School of Fine Arts in Toulouse (France). Since then she has worked exclusively in art.\nIwak gives equal importance to drawing, painting, photography and graphic arts. For her, all these disciplines inspire her. Whatever the medium, the artist is primarily concerned with lines and the rhythms they suggest. Colour is another central element in her work and the result is often abstract.\nVery appreciative of the universe of street artists and their processes, Iwak finds inspiration from the intricacies of daily life. The sky, the passing of time, poetry, meetings, fragile beings, music and love are her favourite themes. Her works mix ink, markers and watercolour. The artist also includes personal photos, drawings and collages on thick paper. With generosity, she creates to generate pleasure. She also prints t-shirts so that the positive emotions of her art may accompany the individuals who wear them wherever they go.\n
