M Bourianne | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

M Bourianne
  • France
Fascinated by the inventiveness and imagination of the child, Myriam Bourianne creates portraits where innocence and fragility are translated into a rainbow of colors and textures. Combining materials such as fabric, acrylic, lace, paper, metal, ink and natural pigments, the artist composes from her visual environment and reinterprets the figure of the child through the sketching of small characters with huge and curious looks.\Their big eyes that stare at us as they stared at the artist at the time of their creation, sometimes melancholic, sometimes amused or joyful, are the mirrors of our emotions and reflect what the world contains of sensational, impulsive, living. They are passages from one side to the other of a world, from the real to the imaginary, from the tangible to the fantastic, from the fact to the invention.\nThe dreamlike figure of the child, surface of colored projection, takes in charge in the infinite declension of its nuances, the depth and the multiplicity of what we feel. The chromatic and luminous intensity gives us a glimpse of generous characters, turned towards us and towards the world, almost weightless in a universe that seems to be made for them, that responds to them, that stimulates them, that forges them. This passage from one world to another through these clear, almost transparent glances, also symbolizes the changeover from one age to the next. There is finally little gap in Myriam Bourianne's work between what shapes us as adults and what nourished us as children. The rite of initiation holds in the assimilation of all these sensory forces which allow us later to preserve the child in each of us.
