Description artwork
Three-dimensional canvas sculpture inspired by kinetic art. I remember the exact moment when this work began to take shape in my mind. It was on the banks of the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec, that silent giant that runs through our history, our identity, our soul.
I watched the waves form, twist, and curl, each one unique, each one ephemeral, each one infinitely beautiful in its fragility. And I understood that I had to capture not the image of the ocean, but its breath, its inner movement, that invisible energy that brings it to life.
So I began to sculpt, to paint, to twist the material that I sculpted entirely with my hands on canvas, centimeter by centimeter, so that each fragment became a wave, a dream, a hope carried by the waters of the world. Ocean of Hope was born in this way: from contemplation, from an emotion too great to remain silent.
What fundamentally distinguishes Ocean of Hope from any other work is its three-dimensional and kinetic nature. I did not paint the ocean; I built it, I sculpted it, I gave it a body. Each fragment of material is sculpted, curved, and oriented with millimeter precision to create the illusion of perpetual motion.
When you move in front of this work—one step to the left, one step to the right, a tilt of the head—it changes. The waves form differently. The shadows migrate. The reflections light up and fade like flashes of lightning on the sea. This work is alive. It is never the same twice. Like the ocean. Like you.
This is the heart of my artistic approach: to provoke in you an emotion that you cannot control, a vibration that starts with the gaze and descends to the soul. Kinetic art is not a style; it is an experience. And Ocean of Hope is an experience that you cannot have just once.
