Youth isn't a period of life, it's a state of mind.
Originally from Amiens, France, and now living near Marseille, Peggy Cannonge transforms the Playmobils of her childhood into XXL icons, vibrant with color and poetry. Between humor, tenderness and nostalgia, she revisits these universal figures to create joyful, immediate and accessible art. Her approach, deeply rooted in the imagination, revives the carefree spirit and invites us to rediscover the wonder of early play.
Peggy Cannonge draws inspiration from her childhood memories, cartoons, and the pop culture worlds that have shaped her vision. Her works, painted entirely by hand, require patience and meticulousness: each Playmobil figure is transformed into a pictorial sculpture, taken apart, painted, redesigned, and then reassembled before being varnished. Her approach celebrates a preserved sense of carefree wonder, the kind that allows for boundless dreaming and the creation of luminous, generous, and deeply moving pieces. True Proustian madeleines, her characters awaken in the viewer an intimate memory, made of tenderness, playfulness, and emotional resonance.
