"I paint with words and I write with paint"\n
Tony Tichené hails from the South of France and has had a passion for drawing since he was little. He started drawing when he was 4 and fell in love with sport soon after. He spent years switching between his two great loves depending on where his life was at. Tony worked as a sports coach for years before returning to art. His travels introduced him to how diverse street artists are and how they have their finger on the pulse. Street art was a lightbulb moment for the artist and he decided to bring it into his work. His paintings use several techniques and nod to the murals you can see on city walls the world over. Tony Tichené racked up the exhibitions and has shown his work in Paris and New York to name but a few. He decided to make his art a career in 2017.\n
Street art may have triggered a lightbulb moment and new signature for Tony Tichené but he's inspired by countless artists and styles. They include Pablo Picasso, Michelangelo, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Willem de Kooning, Christopher Wool and Jacques Villeglé. They inspire him to play with colours, materials and techniques to create high-contrast pieces that reflect everyday life. His grey characters stand out from the primary and secondary colours in the backdrop. Tony Tichené uses acrylic, spray paint, knives, collage, markers and other techniques to give his work depth and texture.\n
