After studying drawing in South Korea, where he was born, Yong-Man Kwon quickly began exhibiting throughout Asia. He did not forget his artistic vocation when he joined the French Foreign Legion, where his talents earned him a position as an illustrator and graphic designer. After five years of service, he became the official painter of the army, and received numerous awards in civilian and military salons. In addition to this prestigious position, he explored a wide range of subjects, including a series of paintings of the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles and landscapes of Paris and New York. He likes to sketch on the spot or, if he can, to work directly on the spot in order to capture the essence of the places and characters.
