Description artwork
This painting depicts an everyday scene in Aix-en-Provence, in a lively street that I particularly like. I chose to paint the café "Le Grillon", an emblematic place for me. I like to sit there drinking a coffee, reading my newspaper and simply observing the life that goes on around me. This café has a real history, a soul, and I wanted to convey it through this painting.
I used both brush and knife to render the light, the warmth of the facades, the details of the scene and the lively atmosphere. There are red umbrellas, people at tables, a small fountain, a bicycle leaning against a tree, and a little girl crossing the square. All this creates a joyful, authentic atmosphere, like a pause in time. I wanted to share this simple but precious moment through my painting.
