WHAT DID CARRÉ D’ARTISTES CHANGE FOR YOU, REGARDING YOUR CAREER AS AN ARTIST?

I’ve been working with Carré d’artistes for 10 years now.

It enabled me to exhibit my work in small and big formats in several big cities in France and abroad and participate in numerous open studios, meeting the public.

Thanks to its dynamism, its many enticements and proposals for new projects, Carré d’artistes allowed me to make a living out of my passion and quit my part-time job.

Carré d’artistes energy is great: we have projects, which gives us more purpose and motivation when painting. It gives extra momentum. I actually need movement because I think movement is life.

HOW IS YOUR PARTNERSHIP WITH CARRE D’ARTISTES ON A DAILY BASIS?

There’s a certain energy in Carré d’artistes.

I’m very lucky and solicited. I always accept projects, except once because I was asked to participate to an Open Studio by was already exhibiting in Paris.

The team I work with brings me answers to any questions and doubts I may have, which is very important in this kind of solitary job.

DESCRIBE YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH CARRÉ D’ARTISTES

Carré d’artistes offers me visibility as I currently exhibit my work in Mexico, Beirut and soon Amsterdam. I also can be sure there will be good communication with the team I work with and who is always here when I need it.

In general, the events that mark me the most are encounters with the public during open studios.

But if I had to choose a particular event, it would be the Open Studio in Mexico, taking place earlier this year. I was exhibiting numerous small and large formats. Canal Once, a public Mexican channel, was also present to produce a 20 minute program.

It was an incredible experience, with a gallery manager and her welcoming and enthusiastic team. I had the opportunity to discover a city and country with beautiful colors and a great atmosphere! Associating work with the discovery of a country was really rewarding and will no doubt contribute to my future creations!

Portrait of Odile Escolier

odile escolier

After scientific studies, Odile Escolier worked in the medical field. At the same time she was continuing developing her artistic skills with inks, pastels and mixed techniques.
She uses acrylic paint, inks and pigments, first working in the background and then creating hollow spaces, as receptacles for the subject to come. The use of the knife primarily allows her spontaneity and movement. Odile likes scraping, painting sculpting, feeling the overlapping layers and light effects that result.
She works the purification of line, the suggestion of forms, keeping only the essentials. The structured settings of her paintings are populated by ""living, ephemeral and solitary nature.""
