Doisy Eric

The more I paint, the more I love everything. I don't think about art when I work. (JM Basquiat)

Lille-born Eric DOISY is a self-taught French artist. He was fascinated by art and trained in interior design before making it his trade. His passion for design saw him produce his own light sculptures (lamps) and make a living from his art for years. New experiences and encounters introduced him to spray paint in 2017 and he moved into painting. The artist began exhibiting his work and opened a studio on the Opal Coast in a former art school-turned-design centre. His pieces are mainly exhibited in France and Belgium.

Eric DOISY is a big fan of outsider and naive art and has a particular fondness for JM Basquiat, Martine Lusardy and Jean Dubuffet. His signature nod to outsider art is a key feature in his pieces. The self-taught and ever-curious artist loves to experiment and blend techniques and media. He actually describes his style as "street art at home". He uses street art techniques (graffiti, stencil, collage etc.) on classic media such as canvas, cardboard and wood. His artwork features a nervous, amused, sad or happy character in the foreground set against a backdrop of collages, transfers and acrylic paint.

Currently this artist is only exhibited in our online gallery.
