Oreli | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

  • Oreli | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

"The function of art is to put more serenity in the world." Hans Scholl.
Oreli was born in Guyana, on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, like a sign of destiny for this artist in love with the sea. After several years in Cayenne, her family returned to France and Oreli moved to Belgium at the age of 20. She studied plastic arts and worked in an advertising agency as a graphic designer. But her desire to create came back to the surface and like an evidence, it is the sea and the oceans which feed her inspiration. Her life path takes her to the Var coastline where she has the opportunity to admire the blue that she loves so much and that brings her infinite inspiration. It is there that for the first time, she exhibits and can exchange with her public.
To fulfill her creative impulse, Oreli opted for resin whose malleability offers a palette of artistic possibilities. She uses colored resin that she places on the support before heating it to give the desired movement. The waves are born and the color reveals all its depth. Elements or characters are sometimes added to this oceanic decor. Very concerned by ecological issues, Oreli is involved with associations for the protection of marine life.
