"Reinventing colors"
Françoise Gomes develops a particular interest for the color. First of all in a figurative register, Françoise Gomes expresses a pronounced taste for the contrasts. Then the color takes the step on the form to become the central subject of its painting. In her first abstractions she expresses the energy inherent in the interaction of colors. Today she is particularly interested in the depth of colors.
Françoise Gomes found her artistic language when she discovered her favorite tool: the knife. She chooses oil paint for the luminosity of its colors and its property to dry slowly, which is essential in her way of painting. Indeed, she develops a technique which consists in working the paint by small successive and superimposed touches. Contemplative by nature, Françoise Gomes is inspired by the emotions that the vision of the colors in the world around her gives her, it is a determining element in the process of creation of her paintings.
